Requirements to opt for the Argentine citizenship

Original birth certificate of the Argentine parent who is transferring the nationality to the child (no faxes or copies)
Original birth certificate of the person acquiring the Argentine nationality, which must have affixed the Hague Apostille. When requesting the birth certificate, ask for the long form. This one includes the names of both parents, which must appear exactly as they are shown in their birth certificates and DNI (National Identification Document). It’s not necessary that the birth certificate be translated into Spanish. If the person acquiring the Argentine nationality was not born in the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine, they must first require the registration of their birth certificate to the corresponding Argentine Consulate.
Passport or other valid government-issued photo ID (i.e. driver license) to identify the person acquiring the Argentine nationality (only if the interested party is over 18 years old).
DNI (National Identification Document) of the Argentine parent who is transferring the nationality to the child, and DNI or passport of the other parent (this documents are only required if the person acquiring the Argentine nationality is under 18 years old).

Registration of birth certificates and option to Argentine citizenship are both free of charge. Fees are charged when applying for a DNI and /or passport
