Sergio Batista announces local Argentina squad for Ecuador clash

Argentina coach Sergio Batista has released the names of the players who will represent the local squad against Ecuador, in the game to be played in Mar del Plata on Wednesday.

The list was divulged via the Argentine FA's official website on Monday morning, and the chosen individuals will spend Monday and Tuesday training at the Albiceleste's Ezeiza practice complex before travelling to the Atlantic coast resort city for a potentially tough clash against their South American rivals.

With Velez Sarsfield involved in Copa Libertadores action midweek the Fortin's sizeable contingent drop out of contention, leaving space open for several new faces to stake their claim for a place in the squad.

River Plate's Juan Pablo Carrizo has an excellent chance to put himself in the picture for the Copa America, as the newly fit goalkeeper takes his place after missing the 4-1 Venezuela victory in March through injury.

Boca Juniors striker Lucas Viatri also makes the list, despite being second choice in the Bombonera behind veteran Martin Palermo; team-mate Javier Garcia however makes way for Carrizo. Estudiantes duo Federico Fernandez and Enzo Perez are further new faces, as is Racing Club striker Gabriel Hauche.
